Clash of Titans 2010?

Sorry, No Polar Donkey TV today.

Certainly a big news day. Mayor Herenton wants to run against Cohen for the 9th Congressional seat. At first hearing this, you might say "wow, how badly does Herenton not want to be mayor. First the school superintendent and now the congressman." But a second thought, I think it is much more clever than that. Let's say I'm a politician with federal investigators all over me. I gotta worry about the people around me rolling over. To prevent that, I can't be a lame duck mayor. I have to keep the gravy train moving. What good am I to these folks if the days of my patronage are ticking away? Not much. You have to give your folks the possibility of moving even higher up in return for continued loyalty.

Perhaps, or maybe additionally, how would the politician with the aforementioned investigators on his tail, undermine a possible coming indictment. You politicize it. If you declare you are running for an important office before an indictment, it casts doubt on the motivations of that indictment. Maybe its a conspiracy to keep him out of office? In an Obama Presidency I don't know how much weight this will still carry but that might be a brier patch the Justice Department just doesn't want to get into.

Or maybe Herenton really does want to run for Congress. What an interesting political world we would be in with a consolidated local government run by Wharton and the Federal representative being Herenton. Any democrats not rolling with the Wharton/Herenton machine better pack your bags for a long stay in political Siberia.

Tigers Basketball Coach Should Be.......

The tigers should try and get Jeff Van Gundy as their coach. We obviously can't get any established college coaches, so why not get a former NBA coach. Van Gundy has close ties to the NBA which will help in recruiting. He has a good basketball pedigree being an assistant to Pat Riley and was successful in the league. He is tough. Remember when he grabbed Alonzo Morning's leg in a fight. He may also want to have the stability of college coaching job. Why not try getting him.

It's All Horseshit

This is a great interview with Bill Black. Yesterday we learned that Larry Summers made $5 million from a hedge fund and over $2 million from big banks. The Obama administration is completely compromised just as the Bush administration's economic team was. This will be the most expensive cover-up in world history to hide the fact that the cheaters prosper and Obama is an active participant.
