David Brooks Is the Whitest and Dumbest Columnist in America

He is a gem of insight from my favorite Bobo in paradise.
"One of the striking things about the scenes from France is how thoroughly the rioters have assimilated hip-hop and rap culture. It's not only that they use the same hand gestures as American rappers, wear the same clothes and necklaces, play the same video games, and sit with the same sorts of car stereos at full blast. It's that they seem to have adopted the same poses of exaggerated manhood, the same attitudes about women, money and the police. They seem to have replicated the same sort of gang culture, the same romantic visions of gunslinging drug dealers."

It is amazing that Brooks is so willing to display his complete cluelessness to the world on the editorial pages of the New York Times. Just in case you need a reminder of what a bobo is, it is a bourgeois bohemian living in the suburbs. I guess this bohemian suburb exists some where, but I think it is most likely just a figment of his imagination. Since Brooks is just pulling this drivel about the suburbs out his ass, he can pull some more out to comment on the French riots. I am so glad that someone with such a lack of knowledge or authority of a subject can lecture us all about the hip hop culture of muslim and african immigrants in FRANCE! I can barely type this because it is so rediculous. Brooks is an extra white, 40 something, white man with illusions of grandeur and cultural relevance. He doesn't even write about America with authenticity. Here's a thought Brooks, maybe it just sucks for these French citizens and they are frustrated. It's not like the word "riot" was invented for innercity, black Americans and French Muslims and North African immigrants. (The only connection is of course hip hop music.)
