Shelby County Democratic Chairmanship Race
Dear Mr. David Cocke,
The delegates to the 2005 Shelby County Democratic Convention would like to thank you for your extremely vigorous lobbying. Your supports have put on a full court press. The delegates appreciate the attention shown to them, but enough is enough. The constant phone calls are a headache, yet the thing that is the real kicker is the negativity shown to groups and other chairman candidates. Attacking others is a natural part of politics and your supporters have definitely incorporated it as their primary tactic. The bombardment of phone calls and negativity is creating an aura of desperation surrounding your campaign. That's too bad because a week and half ago you were actually in a stronger position. My suggestion is to rein in your supporters, drop the attacks on others, and give some in depth proposals to move the local party forward. Your campaign has become a model of what's wrong with the Shelby County Democratic Party. Rather than do the hard footwork of mobilizing supporters, campaigns are taken for granted. Then something happens to show how little preparation was done and the campaign becomes a last minute crisis marked by acts of desperation and pettiness. If this campaign is an example of how you will run the party, than perhaps the delegates should look in a different direction for leadership.
